Cure Yourself Of Natural Insomnia

null

As a natural insomnia sufferer myself on and off for the last 10 years I so I know exactly what it feels like to be physcially shattered while trying to live a normal life - going to work, spending time with friends and family - and then not being able to sleep when you finally get to bed.

I know the frustrations of lying awake at night for hours on end just willing yourself to sleep but to no avail, and of sitting up with a book or the television, trying to do something - anything - to tire myself out enough that I might actually sleep.

I also know what it is like to visit your local doctor about your problem, only to be fobbed off with suggestions of drinking warm milk and avoiding coffe before bed. Come on! We all know that. If the problem was coffee I think we’d know about it. So back home you go, with your tail between your legs, no better off for the time taken to visit the professionals.

It’s a terrible and feeling and so I thought I would set up this site both as a way of meeting other natural insomnia sufferers and also in the hope that we can find solutions to our problem.

So firstly, welcome to the community. Be assured that you are not alone in your situation and you have finally found somewhere where you can feel comfortable and meet others suffering from chronic insomnia.

I aim to update this site on a regular basis so please keep on coming back for more information and I encourage your participation either by adding your own opinions and thoughts in the “comments” section at the end of each article, or by emailing me directly through the contact form. Any advice, tips and experiences would be gratefully received.

Let’s start off in the right foot with me listing the insomnia cures that I have tried over the years together which have and haven’t worked so far.

Warm Milk - Can’t understand why doctors recommend this one but it certainly hasn’t had any effect on me - except perhaps requiring an additional visit to the toilet some hours later (generally when I’m just about starting to drift off!).

Avoiding Stimulants - I don’t drink tea, and while I have seen that coffee does keep me awake for even longer if drunk shortly before bed I generally don’t drink it ater 5pm and still have great troubles sleeping.

Warm Baths - I have to admit this does seem to make a small difference to me. A hot bath just before bed serves to relax my body and even if I can’t fall asleep I feel better for having had it. Recommended.

Meditation - One of the biggest causes of insomnia for me is having an overactive mind. I can’t switch it off at night and so I lay awake thunking about things. Not bad things. I’m not lying there worrying. I just think. About films. TV programs. Books I’ve read. Vacations I want to take. Anything really. So the thought of actively controlling my mind doesn’t really appeal because this is the main cause of my problem.

Temperature Control - We all like different temperatures for uninterupted sleep. This temperature seems to vary from person to person and tebds to be cooler in men than women. I npotice a marked difference in my ability to sleep depending on minor changes in the temperature of the room so I would advise you to enxperiment over a week or so to see what seems to suit you best. How do you feel most comfortable?

Consider having the window open or closed. Different levels of heating in the winter. Sleeping clothed or naked. Under a sheet, a duvet or neither. Just try some things out and I think you will at least notice a small difference in your ability to sleep - and even a tiny improvement is better than nothing when it comes ot natural insomnia cures wouldn’t you agree?
